The UCP blew billions of dollars trying to prop up the Alberta PCs $35 billion bitumen upgrader debacle. The UCP are blowing $20 billion on the R-Star debacle. The UCP lost Alberta hundreds of millions of dollars by forsaking collecting property taxes from the oil companies in Alberta, and municipalities in Alberta must charge increased municipal property taxes, because of this. First Nations communities are suing the UCP and the AER for their negligence with the tailings pond leaks in northern Alberta. Peter Lougheed, who was the only good and sensible Conservative premier in Alberta, had oil industry experience, prior to becoming a politician, and he knew that oil booms would not be around for an eternity. The Conservatives in Alberta never looked after anything properly, ever since Peter Lougheed was no longer premier of Alberta.

Ralph Klein's deregulation and privatization schemes were very costly failures. Ralph Klein made very bad cuts to the public education system, and to the public healthcare system in Alberta, which we still haven't recovered from. Ralph Klein laid off many nurses and teachers. In addition, Ralph Klein is the largest contributing factor to why Alberta has an infrastructure debt that is now nearly $30 billion, or even more. It will take a very long time for Alberta to get over the damage that Ralph Klein did to the province. With the UCP's proven incompetence, including with premier Danielle Smith, it will take even longer. Peter Lougheed, who was the only good and sensible Conservative premier in Alberta, didn't like Ralph Klein for the bad things he did to Alberta. Peter Lougheed also didn't trust Danielle Smith. He was correct.
